NEWPORT...AKA OCEAN WITH WAVES :)

We drove to Rhode Island to catch a few waves, because all the beaches around us are apart of the Long Island Sound = no waves.  The water was so warm...it was awesome and very unusual; the northern Atlantic has always been pretty cold from what I remember.  We played Frisbee, body surfed, Seth enjoyed watching me flip out because I kept steeping on those huge clams ( I had got pinched by a crab and that got me all worked up:), I read the "Kite Runner" and Seth of course studied Fantasy Football magazines.

What I enjoyed the most was watching the seagulls eat the clams....it was like I had my very own discovery channel on the beach ( I was doing the commentary in my head).  The gulls would pick up those huge clams in their mouth, and then fly up 30ft or so and drop them trying to crack them open.  Then there were other sly little gulls that would wait for the other seagull to do the hard work of flying up, and they would just wait at the bottom an steal the clam that just got broken open.  Very Cool!!!  I was freaking out because I thought they were going to try to crack the clams on my head....if you looked over the beach it looked like Pop-Goes-The-Weasel....pop...pop...pop....seagulls would fly up and drop clams.

We have Debbie coming, and then Aaron, Sarah, and BABY HOPE, and after they leave my family is coming in to Connecticut, and then as soon as they leave my very best friend ALI and Nick are coming out here!!!!  We are so excited to see everyone...and a word to all you visitors....put on your smiling faces because you are going to be all over this blog...and that will make you practically famous :)

LOUNGING AROUND

We saw this sign going to church :)

Seth just got done pealing potatoes for our chicken pot pie, while he was doing a mock draft for fantasy football...what a multi tasker :)

Making dinner for my wonderful husband....I love having an oven and a husband!!!

This is our new couch we got yesterday...we are so excited to have a couch....and especially one that we can cuddle on :) Our landlord also brought up a second AC window unit, so now we have AC in the living room too...but you know what I am not even running it...I live having my windows open :)

MILFORD MARINA

We just spent the day hanging out in Milford.  We ate at an ice cream shop on the Milford Landing, called Scooby Doos.  Our landlord said that was the 'to-do' on Friday nights....go get Scooby Doos ice cream, watch the boats come into the marina, and listen to live music.  We then went birthday shopping for Seth, and I got him so dress clothes so he can go to more of those fancy resturants that he likes :)

HIKING IN THE BIG CT

We went on a hike to some waterfalls, but our camera ran out of battery before we could get a picture in of the waterfall.  It really was a very pretty fall...Debbie you will love it :)

SILVER SANDS BEACH

This is the beach that is five minutes away from us, it is called Silver Sands State Beach.  The water was cold, but not anything that you couldn't get use to after a while.  We played Frisbee in the water...trying to make each other layout for it and get all wet :)  We read in our awesome loungers as the sunset, then we went to the grocery store and got some essentials and cleaning supplies. Seth was off to work the next morning, and I was on my cleaning and unpacking tour.  I made hamburger helper that night (that is what Seth wanted....crazy) I thought that I could handle that....so....I was like why is the sauce not thicken up once it cools....couldn't figure it out. Finally I read carefully, I never brought it to a boil...duh?  So a Seth didn't get dinner until really late that night:) I might as well get it all out there now....Last night we didn't get in until late and we popped in a frozen pizza, yeah I cooked it with the cardboard underneath...duh??  But, I did make a coffee cake today that is incredible, it was a recipe from Grandma Clara from my wedding shower :) Getting to use that OVEN!!!!! Woot Woot! :)

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

We are standing outside a pizza joint that claims to be the first in the United States. When we got there on a Monday afternoon....there was a good thirty or more people standing outside the door trying to get into this pizza place....we had time to burn and were excited we picked a place so popular!  They cook their pizza in the oven that was built over 85 years ago, and sell the same bottled soda pop that they sold when the opened....that is all they offer to eat on the menu (salad was just added the waitress said).  The pizza was very good (Dad you would have loved the crispy crust, you could see the charcoal marks on the bottom of the Pizza...good flavor), and you could tell that they used fresh ingredients. We would compare it to a Rocco's style pizza, but with better prices and bigger portions....can you believe that???

Happy Fourth of July Connecticut!!!

Well...I am starting the official blogging as of today! I hope to get you caught up on what has gone on for the past week or so.
Our trip out here went very smooth, our only complaints were that Pennsylvania made us pay like 13.00 for a toll road (stay away from the green interstates on the map...:)  And our GPS told us to merge left, but we were supposed to merge right and pay for another toll road, but we ended up going through the fast pass line, I really hope we don't get a ticket for that :(  But, I can't get mad at the GPS....that thing is a lifesaver, it makes traveling so stress-free and enjoyable!  Seth got to see the New York City skyline, and we drove the interstate through the Bronx area.  We stayed in Columbus, Ohio the first night, and Milford, CT the second night. Milford is where we are living, we just couldn't get into our place because the owners were out of town on vacation for the holiday.  We drove around and checked out the town and ate sushi, then I watched fireworks from our window and on TV while I was finishing up that week of homework.
